EPICC Beginnings - Getting the Basics Right!
Emergency Pre-hospital Interprofessional Critical Care
Wessex CCP unites healthcare students from various universities and backgrounds. We provide hands-on conferences and workshops which solidify principles already learnt through a healthcare degree in a supportive environment which is second to none.
The EPICC Beginnings conference is delivered over one day in November. The first lectures cover the Primary Survey (A-E Assessment) and introduces students to the management of major incidents. The day then moves into hands on workshops to develop these skills, ending with a live casualty scenario to support your learning throughout the day. All delivered and guided by experience and passionate healthcare professionals.
EPICC beginnings is a fantastic place to start your journey into critical care, or to re-affirm your knowledge, gaining hands on practice. Attendees will find it extremely beneficial and gain invaluable experience for all healthcare settings.
EPICC - Major Incidents

EPICC Beginnings, the lectures and workshops provided by Wessex CCP act as a stepping stone to develop your knowledge and skills to bring you to EPICC - Major Incidents.
EPICC Major Incidents is a two day conference in March. Day one consists of informative lectures and interactive workshops delivered by experienced healthcare professionals such as Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, HEMS teams, HART and from many more clinicians
Day two consists of high fidelity and immersive scenarios to put your knowledge and skills altogether. Simulations are guided by experience passionate healthcare professional to support your development.
Attendees gain invaluable experience, preparing them for the real-world healthcare challenges. This provides fantastic opportunities to complement your healthcare degree, particularly if you are interested in emergency management.

Lectures
We run monthly lectures around the Wessex Region based on a variety of different topics. These are usually run by our team of qualified faculty with the occasional guest speaker in attendance. In the past, we have had lectures on Emergency Care, maternity care, mental health, and so much more, so these aren’t ones to miss!
Workshops
Have a go and practise your skills at our regular workshops! Run by our qualified team of faculty, learn the theory behind the healthcare practices and then try out your clinical skills on our mannequins and equipment! Structured around different healthcare areas such as ‘the Primary Survey’ and Airway workshops, this is definitely for you if you want a more hands-on experience!
