EPICC Beginnings and Disaster
(EPICC - Emergency Pre-hospital Interprofessional Critical Care)
Wessex CCP unites healthcare students from various universities and backgrounds. We provide hands-on conferences and workshops which solidify principles already learnt through a healthcare degree in a supportive environment which is second to none. The EPICC Beginnings conference, which typically takes place every November, introduces various concepts, including a solid foundation in A to E assessment and major trauma management. As skills develop throughout the year, students participate in the EPICC Disaster weekend, which is typically a 2 day conference in March. This is a day of interactive workshops and teaching following by a whole day of high fidelity sim and immersive simulations, including major incident management where their learning is put to the test. Guided by experienced doctors, nurses, paramedics, HEMS professionals, and other clinicians, attendees gain invaluable experience, preparing them for real-world healthcare challenges. This provides fantastic opportunities to complement your healthcare degree, particularly if you are interested in emergency management. Lectures
We run monthly lectures around the Wessex Region based on a variety of different topics. These are usually run by our team of qualified faculty with the occasional guest speaker in attendance. In the past, we have had lectures on Emergency Care, maternity care, mental health, and so much more, so these aren’t ones to miss!
Workshops
Have a go and practise your skills at our regular workshops! Run by our qualified team of faculty, learn the theory behind the healthcare practices and then try out your clinical skills on our mannequins and equipment! Structured around different healthcare areas such as ‘the Primary Survey’ and Airway workshops, this is definitely for you if you want a more hands-on experience!
